In recent years, women’s soccer has experienced significant growth both in terms of popularity and participation. However, alongside this development, there has been a concerning increase in injuries, particularly those related to the knee. Among these, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries represent one of the most serious and frequent problems for female players of all ages.
According to recent scientific studies, female soccer players have a risk of ACL rupture that is two to three times higher than that of their male counterparts.
Fortunately, prevention works. Specific training programs like FIFA 11+, designed specifically to reduce the risk of injuries, have proven to be extremely effective. Just 20 minutes at the beginning of each training session, two or three times a week, are enough to achieve tangible results: studies show up to a 50% reduction in the risk of ACL injuries.
Dr. Marco Gastaldo talked about it on Sprint & Sport.
