On Saturday, April 5, 2025, Dr. Fabrizio Tencone, Director of the Isokinetic Center in Turin, appeared on Sky Sport during the program Buon Weekend to discuss the recent injury sustained by skier Federica Brignone at the Italian Championships — her first major injury.
“A complex injury, not something we see very often. Federica Brignone’s trauma was extremely severe,” said Tencone. Meanwhile, on April 8, the Italian champion was discharged after undergoing surgery for a displaced fracture of the tibia and fibula, as well as medial ligament damage in her left knee.
Now the recovery process begins. “First, the bone needs to be stabilized, then we will focus on the ligament damage. Within about a month and a half, we will determine the next steps,” Fabrizio Tencone explained. The injury remains complex and serious, with full attention now on the rehabilitation phase — a program of exercises aimed at reducing swelling, gradually restoring joint mobility, and rebuilding muscle strength.
