We met with Dr Emanuele Brotto, Medical Director of Isokinetic Verona, to explore how the rehabilitation pathway works for post-surgical patients and what strategies make the centre a reference point for orthopaedic rehabilitation.
Rehabilitation after surgery represents a delicate and fundamental moment for the patient’s complete recovery. At Isokinetic, this process is managed with a multidisciplinary approach that places the person and their specific needs at the centre.
Team Coordination: The Medical Director’s Vision
Dr Brotto explained how his coordinating role is essential to ensure that every patient receives a personalised pathway of excellence. The collaboration between physiotherapists, orthopaedic doctors, athletic trainers and other specialists creates an environment where different skills integrate for a single objective: the patient’s optimal recovery.
“The synergy between professionals is our strength,” emphasises the Medical Director. Each case is discussed as a team, allowing constant adaptation of the rehabilitation protocol based on the patient’s progress and individual responses.
The First Steps in the Rehabilitation Pathway
When a post-surgical patient crosses the threshold of Isokinetic Verona, they begin a structured pathway that starts with a complete assessment. Dr Brotto illustrated how the initial meetings are fundamental to understand not only the clinical aspect of the surgery undergone, but also the patient’s expectations, lifestyle and personal goals.
This initial phase includes functional tests, postural assessments and an in-depth analysis of the surgical documentation. Only after this information gathering is the individual rehabilitation plan developed, which will accompany the patient through all stages of recovery.
The Challenges of Rehabilitation and Isokinetic’s Support
During the interview, the Medical Director also addressed the most frequent difficulties that patients must overcome. Pain in the early stages, fear of movement, managing expectations and sometimes frustration with recovery times are common obstacles that require not only technical expertise, but also psychological and emotional support.
At Isokinetic Verona, the patient is never left alone on this journey. The educational approach allows understanding of each phase of rehabilitation, making the person participative and aware of their progress. The advanced technology available at the centre, combined with the professionals’ experience, offers concrete tools to overcome every difficulty and return to daily or sporting activities safely.
