The Director of our clinic in Turin, Dr. Fabrizio Tencone, was consulted by La Gazzetta dello Sport regarding the muscle fatigue experienced by Jannik Sinner upon his return to Italy after his triumph at the Australian Open. The South Tyrolean tennis player had already shown signs of a less-than-optimal physical condition in the previous days.”
With the often very generic term muscle fatigue, Dr. Tencone explains, one can refer to “a simple muscle overload – no injury – or the symptom of a minor muscle lesion.” According to the Director of our Turin clinic, in the absence of a serious muscle injury, “something has still happened”: Sinner has been advised to rest, the most appropriate way to recover energy between matches.
Regarding fatigue recovery methods, Tencone explains: “From instrumental therapies to manual treatments, including the use of cold, proper nutrition, and managing rest and sleep. All these ‘strategies’ are essential for optimal recovery, not only from an injury.”
