Kenan Yıldız’s condition is one of the issues Juventus will need to monitor most closely. The talent is dealing with discomfort in his knee that requires caution, particularly at a stage of the season when training loads, the pre-season tour and preparations for the first competitive fixtures need to be managed carefully.

But how much is there really to worry about? To shed some light on the situation, Professor Fabrizio Tencone spoke to Tuttosport to analyse it from a medical and athletic perspective, explaining what it can mean to manage a problem of this kind and which aspects need to be monitored most closely.

Knee discomfort does not necessarily mean there is a serious injury. Much depends on the nature of the problem, where it is located, how the joint responds to workload and, above all, whether pain occurs during certain movements or exercises. At this stage, it is therefore crucial to assess the player’s condition day by day and avoid rushing the recovery process.

Juventus’ cautious approach should be viewed in precisely this context. During pre-season, the aim is not simply to get a player back on the pitch as quickly as possible, but to ensure he is able to cope safely with the gradual increase in training intensity and, subsequently, the demands of competitive matches.

In Yıldız’s case, following an individual training programme during the tour would not necessarily be a cause for concern. Instead, it could simply be part of a carefully designed plan to manage his workload and reduce the risk of a minor issue developing into a more serious problem.

The recovery timeline inevitably depends on how the condition develops clinically. In situations like this, it is difficult to set a precise timeframe without knowing the exact diagnosis, test results and how the player responds to work on the pitch. The clearest indication will come from Yıldız’s ability to gradually increase his workload without experiencing pain or any adverse reaction from the joint in the hours that follow.

And this is precisely one of the points highlighted by Professor Tencone: living with some discomfort does not necessarily mean being unable to play, but it does require careful management of the balance between training, recovery and physical strain.
